Hello, my name is Lou Redman, and welcome officially to the Art and Business of Meditation podcast. If you're like, what the heck is this? I thought I was on the Awakening to Purpose podcast. What's this new new image? What's this new name? Please take a moment, pause this and go listen to the previous episode, which is an announcement on what this new podcast is. So I've said it all there. Go ahead, check out that big announcement and then come back here if you're so inclined. So I want to intro this podcast and explain a little bit about what to expect. This is the podcast I wish I had when I was starting out eight years ago, and I'll share more about my story in the next episode. But for today, I just want to share a little bit of what my philosophy and my intention is. Again, the name is the Art and Business of Meditation. Let's start by explaining what I mean by art. My philosophy is that by our nature, we are all creators. As Rick Rubin says, creativity is what we are. It is a state of being and a potential that is within that state of being. And through connecting with that potential within us, it opens a channel for what wants to come out of us and what can ultimately serve the world. And I want to help you with this podcast. Open your channel so the uniqueness of who you are can be felt and you can play your role and share your gifts with the world. I believe that our purpose, or the outer expression of our purpose, is in some way helping to relieve the suffering on the planet. It is connected to the interconnected nature of us all. And just as an apple seed is designed, imprinted with the energy to become an apple and relieve our hunger, so is our life. I believe we are encoded in a way that as we let that encoding move through us, that we share the fruit of who we are in a way that nourishes and sustains life. And that's what I want to help you do. For some, that is through writing a song that someone connects with when they're sad or happy. For others, it's creating a scientific advancement that helps humankind. For you and I, I bet some reason you are here is because meditation has had a profound impact on your life and you're feeling the pull that maybe something to do with sharing. Meditation is calling you, and you might be really clear on it. You might already be doing it. You might want to teach mindfulness to kids. You might be teaching meditation classes at a studio, or you might have no idea what that looks like. You just Know that meditation is a part of your life. You're asking the questions of, can I? Is this. What if. What if you could use it to share? Meditation is a medium, and if you're ready to learn how to use it to sculpt your art, you are in the right place. But wait, there's more. Not only do you want to learn how to share the gift of meditation with your heart, you also might be wondering, well, can I make a living doing so? Maybe you have a dream where you want to quit your job and do this work full time, but you doubt you can make close to what you made at your corporate job, let's say. And the answer I want you to embody is yes, yes, you can. It may look different for you than it did for me, but I wholly believe that we are supported by the universe. When we are aligned with a calling, when we are aligned with something that is life giving, if we are aligned with something that is life giving, life gives back to us. And so that's also gonna be an intention with this podcast to explore how. What are the ways to make a living, to have the support of hearing from? In both cases, whether it's art or business, I'm going to be interviewing well established teachers, ones that are already supporting themselves, people that I look up to. And also I'll be interviewing people just starting out that maybe aren't supporting themselves yet, because we learn from people like us. So I don't want to just show you what it's like 10 or 20 years down the road, but also, what is it like one year, two years, three years? We can learn different things from different people at different stages, and that's what this journey is about. It's so exciting, and I'm excited to share more with you. So this podcast is a gift for you, and maybe really a gift for my former self. Maybe I'm doing a little time collapsing and sharing this with myself. Maybe I already did share this with myself, and that's how I've gotten here. Ooh, now we're getting trippy. And I want to welcome the trippy into this podcast, the trippy and the practical. And so if any of that resonates with you, if you're like, yeah, I've been looking for a podcast on this. Yes, you're in the right place. If you're like, whoa, this could be really interesting. I haven't even thought about how I could share meditation, but now I have this podcast to at least explore a little bit more. I hope you enjoy. This is a gift for you. I'll share more about who I am and my journey in the next episode, but I want to thank you for for being here. And if you're excited like I am or you just want to say hi, please send me an email on my website. You can find a contact form and introduce yourself. I love connecting with fellow teachers, guides and people who want to make a difference with their lives. So thanks so much and enjoy. We'll talk soon on the next episode.
