How Much Money I Made in 2025
I've been doing a yearly revenue breakdown for 3 of the last 4 years. You can read my posts for 2021, 2023, and 2024.
My hope in sharing numbers is that it inspires possibility in others.
However, this time I have a lot of feelings about how last year went financially. It's broken certain beliefs I had about money, and there's a lot of unknown about where my financial picture stands.
Still, I think it's important to map the journey, to show the ups and downs, and bring people along for the ride.
So here we are.
2025 Revenue: $82,913.94 (Down $36,000 from 2024)
This is the first year since 2020 that I have not hit 6 figures. Overall, $80k is not bad, but it was in the same year my wife left her job, we moved across the country, and got pregnant with our first child. Wowzas!
With that came a ton of new expenses, and with me being the only income, that money trickled away fast.
I honestly didn't think it was possible to make less money, especially this amount. I held a woo-woo belief that once you get used to a certain income level, you will continue to attract that amount until you expand and eventually bring in more.
But as much as our western capitalistic conditioning would have us believe otherwise, nature doesn't work like that.
Expansion and contraction are a part of any living entity. Things grow, they die, new things emerge—as I wrote on Substack: A Year of Contraction.
When it comes to embracing these ups and downs, this song has spoken to me deeply.
Let's break down the numbers.
1-1 Life Coaching: $36,330 (Down $9,720 from the year before)
What to say about this drop off? Well, for one, I put focus into other 1-1 and group offers, which I'll share in a bit. But honestly, clients just aren't coming in like they used to. I used to have multiple discovery calls weekly. It's just not like that for me anymore.
For sure, AI is having a bigger impact on coaching than I like to admit. I just heard there was a study that personal coaching is the #1 thing people use AI for.
The industry feels like it's shifting. People are more wary. Information is free and fast. I think, going forward, the value of experiential offers (speaking, retreats, community) will be at a premium.
Bright side: I'm understanding more about who my coaching helps most. If you could use a coach right now, see if this resonates and reach out to explore a call.
Insight Timer: $18,997 (Down $17,359.44 from the year before)
Seeing my Insight Timer revenue get cut in half was a gut punch. It even dipped below $1k for the first time since we started making money in 2019.
Here's the breakdown: (Sorry, it's hard to see on mobile.)
Here's the change over the last 3 years.
As someone with older content, I'm losing on return rate. I still dislike Insight Timer's return rate bonus, as I don't think it's relevant to the quality of the content.
I don't blame Insight Timer for doing what they have to do, as their CEO, Christopher Plowman, shared in our conversation. But I can still feel the sting.
It also makes sense. For the last two years, I was less focused on Insight Timer and instead building my podcast and Meraki Mastermind. I was able to coast on my old work, and that's not possible anymore.
Last year, I recommitted to Insight Timer and launched a new flagship course, and you can see from October and November's revenue that things are on the upswing. I also got a feature in their manifestation challenge, which boosted plays and followers.
With video launching on Insight Timer, it feels like the wild west. It's still a platform and community I love dearly, and I won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
Insight Timer Growth Accelerator 1-1 Coaching: $11,690
This was a new offer I beta tested in May, initially charging $800, then $1,100, then its full price of $1,500. I also had a sale on it at the end of the year for $997, which accounts for the number you see.
It's weird to write about my Insight Timer revenue downturn and then go about helping people grow on the app. It's a tension I'm holding, and the way I'm approaching this coaching is to see Insight Timer as part of your overall ecosystem.
It is a great place to build a body of work, and yes, with enough time and attention, you can be making consistent passive income. The jewel of this container has been the accountability, meditation breakdowns, and critiques I offer.
Meraki Mastermind: $10,272 (Down $13,793)
I ran two cohorts of Meraki Mastermind last year, and a failed launch of a third. It was a bummer to let this go, but I also felt like the right time. I was ok with not pushing to keep it going.
I am stoked that I started Meraki Sessions as a free offering to support teachers, creators, writers, and artists. It's different from our mastermind format, but the spirit of the group is very much alive.
If you're a creative soul and haven't checked it out, sign up for free and join in!
You won't be asked to talk unless you want to. :)
Insight Timer Month of Momentum: $6,979
This was another new offer I led at the end of the year. It came together fast and sold out fast. I am grateful for the opportunity to have done this work with people in such a focused way. It also brough the revenue I needed so I could take 6 weeks off and fully be with my wife and son during the postpartum period.
Aura Health Meditation App: $2,859 (Down $30)
Aura has been pretty steady, although I find it much stricter than Insight Timer. I continually receive rejections on my content, but I appreciate the extra passive income.
Meditation Course Creator Academy: $2,034 (Down $2,587)
MCCA is a self-paced course to help people create and publish a meditation course that moves listeners, creating transformation, deeper connection, growing revenue, and building trust with potential clients.
It came out in 2024, so there was a lot more energy around it and promotion then. Still a lot of good stuff in there around making courses that build trust and grow your ecosystem on Insight Timer.
As an industry, with AI making info free, course sales are way down across the board.
Publish Your First Meditation on Insight Timer: $485
This was a fun, incredible bang-for-your-buck offer I did at the end of the year for $97. I helped five people get their first meditation up on Insight Timer.
It was a great way to give people a quick win and introduce them to what it's like working with me, with an Insight Timer focus. This was inspired by a coach who runs "mini challenges" to showcase their larger offer. I've debated doing it again, but I'd likely charge a little more. Let me know if you'd be interested in that!
Book Sales (Find Your Truth): $123 (Down $358)
Considering I get a small royalty, that's significant in the amount of books being sold. I hadn't noticed this shift until writing this post. It makes me a little sad, but I know a book is evergreen, and I literally never promote it, so what can ya complain about?
If you want to know how I got started with this work, pick up Find Your Truth.
Simple Habit: $70 (Down $150)
I said it last year, I have no idea what this app is up to. They keep sending a little money, so I'll take it.
Ok, now onto expenses.
Total 2025 Expenses: $33,903 (Up $170 from 2024)
Less revenue and more expenses mean much less profit. Where did it go?
Assistant: $5,596
Love my assistant Joyce. She is on top of everything and is very multi-skilled, helping me upload videos, do simple video edits, and a whole bunch of stuff I don't want to do.
Coaching and Business Courses: $7,591
This includes working with two different coaches for a shorter period, one of whom helped me get my Insight Timer Growth Accelerator offer dialed in. This number is still significantly lower than usual, as I didn't have a long-term coaching commitment. I also enrolled in the Part-Time YouTubers Academy course. (You can actually watch me buy the course and learn what I do before most sizable business investments.)
Online Tools Subscriptions: $2,418
These include paying for annual services such as Thinkific, Mailsuite, Kit, Loom, Zoom, and Calendly.
Stripe and PayPal Fees: $2,100
Man, those processing fees add up!
Google Domains and Online Subscriptions: $498
Like YouTube, Spotify, ChatGPT. (I've recently made the switch to Claude.)
Retreats: $1,400
I love that I can go on retreats and write them off as business development and research.
Other expenses are miscellaneous, tax filing, internet, and USPS-type stuff.
I donated $2,511 in 2025, which is down from previous years.
I'll be transparent, I save 5% to donate, but last year I had to use that money, in addition to liquidating some crypto and other investments.
And that's it. A hard financial year.
I wish I could tell you that 2026 is off to a better start, but my revenue has continued to decline. It's humbled me a whole lot.
I've been here before, and in that way, it can feel like I'm going backward, even though I know that's not the case.
I'm not sure how everything will unfold, but I'm trusting that something new wants to be born. I have no doubt I'll figure it out.
One thing I know, I'm in it for the long game.
Thanks for being on the journey with me.
