Welcome to another episode of the Art and Business of Meditation podcast. I am your host, Lou Redmond and I love getting a chance to help you on your journey. I'm a coach, I'm a guide and I want more people connected to their soul work. And I just love getting a chance to speak with guests that we have on and share little riffs of things that maybe are helpful for you on your path, as I am going to do today. Today is another solo episode and I'm sharing this episode from Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, which is a beautiful 10 mile wide, 1 mile deep lake. Lake formed by a huge crater with some volcanoes hanging around the side in Guatemala. And it's my third time being here, about to prepare for a retreat and here I am recording a podcast for you. And I say that because I had mentioned this on my Instagram profile recently, is that as I look out into the lake in the distance, as I get to travel. Yesterday I had a very busy day of coaching calls and things that I was doing to prepare for the retreat. Today is a little bit more relaxed. I just wanted to share this and maybe have one call. But I say all this because this was a dream. For years, for nine years at least, this was a dream. To be able to travel, to go on retreats, to do the work I love, to have the finances that feel supportive, to really give and share and to not feel like I'm constricted, not feel like I have to budget everything so tightly, like I can feel good about spending whatever the tuk tuk driver charges, right? To not have to feel like I'm negotiating things and actually try to be a blessing in a land where obviously the economics are different. And so I'm very grateful for that. To be able to come down here and just to be able to travel and do work wherever. And so I say that because although that this is a dream come true, I'm still dealing with human things, that it doesn't mean I'm any happier necessarily than I was nine years ago when I started this journey, that even when all of this was a dream and I was working towards it, I was figuring things out, I was reading books, I was starting to develop content, I was starting to teach people and show people how to meditate. All of that was equally as rewarding and fulfilling before the financial reward, before the realization of the dream. And so I say this because if you're working towards your dream, when you get there, it is not necessarily going to give you something different. It's going to feel like, okay, yes, great, you have the dream and you work to realize it. And that's important. That's what gives us the map. We need to have some kind of vision, I wouldn't even say a goal, but a vision that helps us work towards that. We can manifest our dreams. But it's the process that is rewarding in itself. It's not the completion, it's not getting to the space, for example, that I am here now, where I have the freedom to travel and to work from anywhere. It's the journey. We hear this all the time. The journey is the reward. And now, even though I have realized my dreams and I'm traveling and doing this thing, I'm dealing with other human things. I have things coming up in my life that are creating disconnection from myself. I am getting married in July and that is bringing up all this stuff for me relationally, all these patterns, it's really putting things to the fire. And that's challenging to be with. And I'm sure I'll talk more about this more as things integrate. And I'm actually doing whatever the healing is that needs to be asked for. But I say this because just because I'm living this dream life doesn't mean I'm any more happy than I was nine years ago when I was just beginning. If anything, there's this part of me that looks back nine, eight years ago at that version of me, doe eyed and excited and naive at what was coming, what is coming. And I have such a love for that version, for the chase. I'm someone who loves the thrill of the chase. And so to look back at that time, I have just a great love and appreciation. There's almost a part of me that misses it. Obviously I'm at a different space. We can never go back to those times. And so I share this episode. For you to just realize that you are already there, that you might not be making the money that you want to make, doing the thing that you love, that you might not be able to have the time freedom that you'd like to have as you continue this path. But the fact of being in the process, the fact that you're actually putting some energy towards your soul work is what is important. I cannot emphasize this enough that you don't arrive at happiness or fulfillment when your dreams are realized, that you cultivate that happiness, you cultivate that fulfillment as you walk the path. So don't feel like you're not there because you are there. It's all a perspective shift. It's all coming back to yourself and saying, okay, how do I put energy to my work to today? How do I put love into what I want to do today? And that will compound. And if you can have a lot of fulfilling days, I promise you, beyond what starts coming in, beyond the support you get, that is going to lead to a really fulfilling and joyful and meaningful life. And that is why we're doing this, this work. And so I share this little mini episode as just encouragement, as a hope that you let go of trying to get somewhere, have the vision, go for your dreams, see what it looks like, feel what it might feel like, and then bring that into today, bring that into your next task. Realize that you have the access to everything that you could ever want to feel or have in this very moment. Thanks for listening. Let me know how you like these shorter mini episodes. It's fun to just come on here and riff. I can only do 90 seconds on an Instagram reel, so to have eight or so minutes to just riff on this is, I think adds a different dimension. I am able to really get to a different layer. So I hope you like it. And if you do like this episode or you do like this podcast, if you're listening, please, it would mean so much if you take a few moments and leave a review. Let others know what you think and it helps a ton. I'm excited to say that my Mastermind, Meraki Mastermind and second cohort has filled up and we will be on a journey for the next three months and then doors will reopen in. What is it? What's three months from January? April. Trying to figure this out on the fly in April. So if you've heard my episode on the Power of a Mastermind, go check that out. If it interests you to join other coaches and creators who are really doing their soul work and mission in this world. It's a great community and so feel free to reach out and I'll make sure that you are on the wait list when doors reopen. And with that, I send you all my love. Keep doing your work.
