How Much Money I Made in 2024
*You can listen to an audio version of this email on Apple or Spotify.
One of my superpowers is radical transparency.
Beyond our naked bodies, the thing most people feel guarded about sharing publicly is finances.
Since I’m not a fitness coach, I’ll spare you the picture of my abs—but because I help teachers and creators make a living, I want to take you behind the scenes of my money life from 2024.
This is becoming an annual share. If you're curious, you might also enjoy reading how much I made as a teacher and coach in 2021 and 2023.
I always appreciate seeing how creators piece their living together, so I hope you find this helpful.
Total 2024 Revenue: $118,984.10
This was actually $4k less than the year prior — which means, for the first time in 10 years, my revenue went down.
But…
I’m not usually one to flex the lifestyle of this work, but I gotta say…
In 2024, I spent all of January in Guatemala for a retreat.
A week in both Colorado and Arizona for retreats.
June in Italy for my wedding — one of the most remarkable experiences of my life.
Then we traveled to Vietnam and Bali for our honeymoon until August.
I then spent a week at the beach with family.
Then 10 days in Oregon, scoping out what would become our new home.
And amidst ALL of that, I made almost $120k. I mean, that aint bad!
I don’t think anyone should work for themselves for the lifestyle, but it does allow one to spend more time on what matters without the constriction of two weeks paid vacation.
Revenue Breakdown
1-1 Coaching: $46,050 (Down $7k from last year)
I’ve been supported every step of this journey. Opportunities come when I need them and also dry out when I’m being asked to focus elsewhere.
As I entered my matrimony in March, I barely had any new clients come through until August. A part of me was concerned, but I knew that focusing on more important matters was needed.
I’ve been finding myself at a crossroads around 1-1 work. For the last six years, I’ve been a general life-coach working with people on a range of topics.
As I’ve been growing The Art & Business of Meditation podcast and Meraki Mastermind, I find myself leaning into mentorship of meditation teachers, coaches, and creatives who want to make what they love what they do.
I still Love working with “regular people.” (I can’t be a coach who just coaches coaches!)
I’ll have more to say about this later on.
Insight Timer: $36,356.44 (Down $3k from 2023)
If you’ve been following, you know Insight Timer made big changes in June.
They changed the payout split to 60/40, teachers making less. They did this to get the company profitable, or there would be no more Insight Timer. (Hallelujah that it worked.)
They stopped paying for course comments. As someone who got a lot of course comments, this hurt, but I was lucky to ride that wave while it lasted.
Insight Timer was super generous, creating a $550,000 teacher fund to support teachers' lost revenue for 3 months.
This meant the changes didn’t start impacting me until November and December. You can see how that started here. (Sorry if it's hard to read on mobile.)
You can see that in October the payout stopped, and my revenue has gone down each month since. I just recently posted a video about this: I Lost Half My Insight Revenue: Here’s what I’m doing.
I have so much gratitude for Insight Timer. While some, like my friend Charles Freligh, are thriving, I haven’t cracked the code — and honestly, I haven’t been putting much energy into it.
This is a deeper conflict I wrestle with: I feel like I should be feeding the thing that got me here… but I’m also drawn elsewhere.
I see meditation as Art, not content.
I’ve created hundreds of meditations and courses. There’s a part of me that’s okay letting that body of work be, rather than forcing content to feed the system.
So here I am, listening like an artist for what wants to come through.

Meraki Mastermind: $24,065 (First Full Year)
Can you create something special using just your email list and a google doc? Meraki is proof that you can. (Although it finally has a website!)
Meraki sits at the literal heart of my work. It’s part spiritual community, part business mastermind for meditation teachers, coaches, and creators who see their work as a prayer.
Merkis offers immense value and intimate support you receive from me and others for a fraction of private coaching—plus you get the amazing community.
Whether you’re there for a month or year, you’re always part of the community.
Meraki means to put a piece of your soul into the work do.
If that resonates with you, you might be a perfect fit.

Meditation Course Creator Academy: $4,621.32 (First Full Year)
Launched in March, MCCA is a self-paced course to help people create and publish a meditation course that moves listeners—creating transformation, deeper connection, growing revenue and building trust with potential clients.
I used inspiration from the book Million Dollar Weekend and sold it before I made it. Most people spend months creating an offer and then launch it to crickets. Noah says this wastes a lot of time.
Rather, what you should do is sell the idea up front, and then once you have orders, you
A) know people want it
B) have the resources to make the thing better.
That’s exactly what I did with MCCA.
I ran a beta test with early supporters, and one of the biggest value-adds was a live coaching call I hosted each month.
I’ve since sunsetted the live coaching and dropped the price from $297 to $150 to make it more accessible.
Get the course here: Meditation Course Creator Academy
I hope to continue working on promoting it during my email welcome sequence. I’ll keep you updated on how that goes!
Meditation School (Co-Teaching): $3,031.03 (Down $3k)
I co-taught in David Gandelman’s Meditation Teacher Training. Since there were fewer students this year, there was less involvement. David’s taking a break from running this in 2025, but plans to be back and thriving in 2026!

Aura: $2,889.06 (Up $800!)
We have a bright spot! Aura is another meditation app I create for and my tracks are gaining traction.
I’ve hesitated to put more energy here out of loyalty to Insight Timer, but as IT revenue dips, I may reconsider.
Speaking: $1,250 (Down $13k)
In 2023 I was giving my talk “Greatness Is A Whisper” to high schoolers, but have found a tough time connecting with teens. It doesn’t feel like where I’m meant to serve, so I stopped pursuing it.
In 2024, I did one corporate workshop teaching the benefits of meditation, breathwork, and gratitude—that felt aligned.
Book Sales (Find Your Truth): $481.98
I don’t promote it much, though I probably should. It’s a raw, inspiring read, and I’m proud of it. People are still discovering it, and that’s beautiful.
Simple Habit: $220.75
I have no idea what this app is up to. They keep sending a little money, so I’ll take it.
That is roughly my $118,984.10…Now to the expenses!
2024 Expenses $33,733.84 (Down $7.8k from last year)
Assistant: $6,161.79
I don’t know where I’d be without my assistant Joyce! She helps keep so many behind-the-scenes pieces moving. I’ve said this before, but the journey of this work is learning to stay in your zone of genius and outsource as much as you can. This is a huge area of growth I’ve stepped into over the past few years.
Coaching/Training: $10,175.00
I completed my second year in the Aletheia coaching, which has a robust method and depth beyond any coaching methodology I’ve come across. If you’re feeling called to becoming a coach, or up-leveling your skills, highly recommend Aletheia.
I also worked with a coach/business mentor toward the end of the year. It was my first 1-1 coach in a while and it was really exciting to be getting that level of support and guidance.
Retreats & In-Person Experiences: $4,256.65
The beauty of this work is that I get to write off doing any work that impacts how I show up for others. Retreats, events, and healing work become infused in what I get to offer to others. The inner work becomes the outer work.
Audio Editing: $1,593.55
Lots of podcast recordings this year, plus two new Insight Timer courses and some scattered talks and meditations. I love knowing I can hit record, hand it off, and keep my energy in the creative process.
Tech Stack: $4,527.17
This includes all the digital scaffolding that holds my business: Zoom, Calendly, web hosting, domains, podcast tools, email software, and other subscriptions that help everything run smoothly.
Miscellaneous: The rest of the expenses might be post office runs, car insurance, books, or office supplies.
So $118,984.10 minus $33,733.84 = $85,250.26 In Profit (Up $4k from last year!) All is pre-tax.
Other Financial Stuff
While I had fewer business expenses, I spent a lot on my wedding preparation. For our ceremonialist and couple’s therapist, it was around $10k.
There is so much I have to say about our matrimony experience, but I don’t even know how to begin that process.
I donate 5% of my revenue to charity.
In 2024 it came out to $5,542.30 (Sometimes, it rolls over into the next year.)
Himalayan Children's Future Fund
Center for Action and Contemplation
One Love Prison Meditation Project Listen to my interview with the founder, Tim.
Love Serve Remember Foundation
This money goes into its own account, so I have it whenever something comes up or a cause asks for a donation. I love knowing that I can give freely and that my income impacts more than just me.
I also have a "fun account" that gets 5%, so whenever I'm in a new city, I have no guilt about going to restaurants and spending money on whatever.
My bank account, Novo, makes it easy to set this up so that whenever money comes in, a percentage automatically goes to these buckets. I also have a bucket for "Life Happens" (random emergencies) and taxes.

My finances have plateaued over the past 4 years. And while it's gone down this year, I feel I’m at the cusp of breaking through to the next level.
I’m grateful you’re here on the journey with me.
I’d love to know what you took from this. Feel free to send me an email and let me know!
